Skills & Expertise
Project Synopsis: Challenge/Opportunity
Volunteer Recruitment and Retention.  The current case loads of children in foster care, who have experienced abuse and neglect, increased from 300 children served at the end of 2019 to 613 children served at the end of 2022; it appears that 2023 will be even higher than 2022.
Project Synopsis: Activities/Actions Required
Strategically, we need to better understand our volunteers and their needs; who are target volunteer audience is; determine what actions would be needed to retain them longer; understand how our current volunteer/donor base can assist us in recruiting new volunteers.  Are there strategic community partnerships that can be formed that would assist us?  I think ultimately, develop a comprehensive volunteer recruitment and retention strategy, supported by actions.  With over 200 plus volunteers currently and the need for 50-100 more, in order to take into consideration volunteers that may leave after their case is completed (an average case is 2-3 years) as well as the growth in cases, building a pipeline of volunteers and training them to be ready is critical.
Project Synopsis: Expected Results
Success would be to have a define strategy and plan for recruitment and retention; measuring volunteer retention and satisfaction; as well as measuring growth in volunteerism.  I'm sure there are more, but this is a start.
