| Project Title | Big AIS Data: Tracking Vessels over time |
| Project Topics | |
| Skills & Expertise | |
| Project Synopsis: Challenge/Opportunity | Vessel tracking supports safety, supply chain logistics, and various forms of commerce. Vessels use Automatic Identification Signals (AIS) to communicate location and status in regular intervals (1 minute or more). This generates loads of data points that need to be managed so that analysis can be performed to track important events, generate GIS resources like polygons, and produce maps.
|
| Project Synopsis: Activities/Actions Required | Download and store data for AIS signals using a data model and distributed file storage plan. Create a heat map to show most common traffic and waiting areas. Support time-series view to identify patterns over time using user-controlled filters.
|
| Project Synopsis: Expected Results | We support commercial and government clients interested in solutions and datasets of AIS.
