Headquartered at One Police Plaza in Lower Manhattan, the NYPD is committed to fostering a safe and fair city by incorporating Neighborhood Policing into all facets of its operations. The department offers a range of specialized units, including the Emergency Service Unit, K-9, harbor patrol, highway patrol, air support, bomb squad, counterterrorism, criminal intelligence, anti-organized crime, narcotics, mounted patrol, public transportation, and public housing units. The NYPD strives to solve the problems that create crime and disorder through an interdependent relationship between the people and its police, pioneering strategic innovation to enhance public safety.
