About Reserve Bank of India
The Reserve Bank of India was established on April 1, 1935, in accordance with the provisions of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934. It is fully owned by the Government of India since nationalisation in 1949. The RBI formulates, implements, and monitors monetary policy, manages foreign exchange, issues currency, and performs a wide range of promotional functions to support national objectives.
