About Students
Students in the Health Management & Policy Capstone at NYU Wagner are graduate students pursuing their Master of Public Administration in Health Policy & Management or related degrees. They are emerging professionals with a deep commitment to advancing equitable, high-quality, and financially sustainable health systems. 

These students come with diverse backgrounds in healthcare, public health, policy, data analysis, and nonprofit leadership. Through rigorous coursework and real-world experiences, they’ve developed skills in healthcare strategy, operations, financial analysis, policy evaluation, and organizational effectiveness. 

They are prepared to work across sectors—health systems, public agencies, nonprofits, and research institutions—and are eager to partner with organizations tackling today’s most pressing healthcare challenges.
About Program Goals
Students participating in the Capstone will work in teams to: 

  1. Apply health management and policy frameworks to address a complex, real-world organizational challenge.

  2. Conduct rigorous qualitative and/or quantitative research, including literature reviews, stakeholder interviews, data collection, and analysis.

  3. Assess and evaluate existing programs, policies, or strategies to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.

  4. Develop actionable recommendations and implementation plans grounded in best practices, evidence, and stakeholder input.

  5. Deliver professional-grade final reports and presentations that communicate insights clearly and support decision-making by the partner organization.

  6. Build skills in project management, client communication, and consulting, all while centering equity and health outcomes in their work.

NYU Wagner’s Capstone program pairs small teams of students with clients in the public and private sectors who are tackling a public service issue—whether in health, education, international development, urban planning, or any other programmatic field—to tackle a project.
