Details
Project Title Equitable Policy and System Change
Project Topics Legal, Regulatory, Compliance Research & Development
Skills & Expertise
Project Synopsis: Challenge/Opportunity
USI works across 5 pillars of service:  housing stability, economic mobility, education, health and wellness, and policy and influence in communities across the country. Most of these communities are going through some form of revitalization.  The majority of the staff at USI work directly with families in these communities.  We are working to ensure that all children and families are stable and thriving.  Specifically, within our policy and influence pillar we are working on policy and systems change collaborations that reduce racial disparities particularly in the area of economic mobility. This project would focus on research of key areas to support us in the development of our policy change agenda.
Project Synopsis: Activities/Actions Required
We are specifically looking to looking for interns to prepare research briefs in three key areas:
  • Cost/benefit analysis for landlords reporting on time rental history as a means of improving credit score to close racial wealth gaps.
  • Research on 6 policy amendments included in our policy change agenda including the identification of philanthropic and nonprofit partners who are aligned to any of the policies included within its scope.
  • Research on promising programs and activities for closing the racial wealth gap.
Project Synopsis: Expected Results
During the course of this project, success would be having completed comprehensive research briefs in each of the identified areas.  Long-term result would be utilizing these developed research briefs to align with partners and strategies that result in equitable system change.
